Aflas

Tetrafluoroethylene / Propylene

What is Aflas?

Aflas is a high-performance fluoroelastomer that offers exceptional resistance to heat, chemicals, and harsh environments. Aflas is renowned for its outstanding durability and reliability in applications where conventional elastomers fall short. With a unique polymer structure, this advanced material delivers excellent resistance to acids, oils, fuels, solvents, and even steam. Its ability to maintain its mechanical properties at extreme temperatures makes it a preferred choice in industries such as automotive, chemical processing, oil and gas, and semiconductor manufacturing. Aflas provides the perfect balance of strength, flexibility, and resilience, making it an indispensable asset for countless demanding applications worldwide.

Features and Benefits:

Aflas has an incredible temperature range of -25°C to +230°C, while under these extreme high temperatures the material will resist degradation. Because of this the lifespan of a seal made from Aflas will be much longer in high temperature applications compared to other materials.

Aflas also has an excellent resistance to various different chemicals and substances. Such as different kinds of oils, amines, acids and alkalis. Aflas will also be able to seal well in applications around very aggressive chemicals without the rapid degradation of other materials.

Industries:

Automotive

As Aflas can operate very efficiently while under high temperatures, it has been a very useful material in the automotive industry. This is because in most forms of automotive applications there will be high heat and different fluids and oils being exposed to the seal. Aflas will be most commonly found in fuel injector seals as well as hoses.

Oil & Gas

Harsh environments are prevalent is the oil & gas industry with extremely high temperatures, damaging chemicals and fluids, and very intense pressures, these conditions making it the ideal industry to utilise Aflas for their sealing needs. Aflas seals will be found in downhole tools, valves and control systems, and other areas where the resistance to high temperatures and corrosive fluids are imperative.

Pharmaceutical & Chemical Processing

Both of these industries require the material, that is being used to seal any applications, to have excellent chemical resistance. The seals that are in use must be able to withstand the harsh chemicals that they will come into contact with, without degrading. Whether this is in the pharmaceutical industry, where the seals will be in fluid transfer and cleaning systems, or in the chemical processing industry, where the seals will be found in agitators, valves or pumps.

Energy

Aflas will often be found in power plants, specifically geothermal power plants. These plants will require seals to be made of materials that are able to withstand very high temperatures and be exposed to steam for long periods of time. This is why Aflas seals are so commonly used in these plants, with their excellent heat and steam resistance, they make for the perfect material for this application.
