Rotary oil seals, also known as radial shaft seals, are essential components in various applications across industries. There are five common types of Rotary Oil Seal, these are:

R1 - These are fully metal encased with a single rubber lip.

R4 - These have a metal case with a single rubber lip.

R6 - These have a metal case with a rubber sealing and wiper lip.

R21 - These are fully rubber covered with a metal inner and a single rubber lip.

R23 - These are fully rubber covered with a metal inner and a rubber sealing and wiper lip.

Rotary oil seals are a vital component in ensuring efficient performance and preventing fluid leakage in rotating applications. These seals are manufactured using various materials, each chosen for its specific properties and compatibility with different operating conditions. Common materials used for rotary oil seals include Nitrile (NBR), Fluorocarbon (FKM), and Polyacrylic (ACM). Nitrile offers excellent resistance to oils, fuels, and greases, making it suitable for general-purpose applications. Fluorocarbon provides exceptional resistance to high temperatures, chemicals, and aggressive fluids, making it ideal for demanding environments. Polyacrylic offers a broader temperature range and good resistance to wear, making it a suitable choice for applications with varying operating conditions. Additionally, the selection of the sealing element springs can be made from materials such as Stainless Steel, ensuring durability and optimal sealing performance.
